Compound Letters

In lesson 2, you will recognize the different Arabic letters when they are mixed together. A letter may come at the beginning of the word, middle of the word or at the end of the word and it comes with different shape in each position. When two or more letters are joined together they form a murakkab.
In Arabic language, when you make a word you have to connect different Arabic letters. These letters are joined together in order to make a single combined word. Because of that, you have to make changes and cut some letters to attach with 2 or more letters for making a correct word. In lesson 2, you will learn how to cut the letters and joined them together to form a new word e.g. لا is actually formed by combining ل + ا. In this lesson we will read each letter separately during reading these words.

Example:
با: read it as “ ب الف” (Baa Alif).
بلب: read it as “ با لام با” (Baa Laam Baa).
فقل: read it as “ فا قاف لام” (Faa Qaaf Laam).
