The Arabic Alphabet consists of 28 letters (29 letters if we include letter ء Hamza). These letters are written from right to left. Each letter has its own unique sound. They change their shape according to their position in a word.
Makhaarij (Places of Articulation):
Arabic letters are pronounced from approximately seventeen different articulation points. It is necessary that one should pronounce each letter correctly from its point of articulation. Different letters are grouped according to their makhaarij, like Huruf-e-Halaqi, Huruf-e-Lahwiyyah, Huruf-e-Shajariyyah etc.
